Environmental pollution means the pollution of air water and soil by various pollutants. These pollutants are sent to the environment in large concentration by the activities of man. Moreover these pollutants disrupt the natural ecosystems of the biosphere.
TYPES OF POLLUTANTS.
Two types of pollutants are recognized depending on their nature:
1. Non -degradable: These are pollutants which do not undergo decomposition
[or degradation] in the natural ecosystem of the world. These can, in the course of food chain, reach the tissues of higher animals, including human.
2. Bio-degradable pollutants: These pollutants are easily decomposed by decomposers like bacteria, in the natural ecosystems.
